MUG MacConkey Agar is recommended for the selective isolation and detection of lactose fermenting coliform organisms by a fluorogenic procedure. It helps to detect the presence of an enzyme ß-glucuronidase and thereby rapidly identifying Escherichia coli in mixed clinical specimens.
