For isolation and presumptive identification of group D Streptococci from food and pharmaceutical products.

Bile Esculin HiVeg™ Agar Base is used for the isolation and identification of Group D Streptococci from food. Using this medium Group D Streptococci could be differentiated from non Group D Streptococci. It is also shown to aid differentiation of Enterobacteriaceae, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia from other Enterobacteriaceae genera on the basis of esculin hydrolysis. Bile Esculin HiVeg™ Agar Base is prepared by using vegetable peptones in place of animal based peptones which make the media free of BSE/TSE risks.
