Campylobacter jejuni is a Gram-negative, micro-aerophilic organism, relatively fragile and sensitive to environmental stresses. This bacterium is recognized as an important enteric pathogen (intestinal bacteria that spreads through raw poultry, raw milk and untreated water. Campylobacteriosis, often known as campylobacter enteritis is caused by C. jejuni, leading to diarrhea and fecal leukocytes.
