Nitrate Broth is recommended for detection of nitrate reduction by bacteria. The composition and performance criteria are in accordance with ISO 1995, ISO 7932:1993. The ability to reduce nitrogen gas from nitrate is significant differential test identifying various types of bacteria especially from Enterobacteriaceae family. Potassium nitrate acts as a substrate for determining nitrate reduction by bacteria.
