SA HiVeg™ Agar Base is recommended for isolation, cultivation and differentiation of Aeromonas hydrophilia from food based on starch hydrolysis in accordance with APHA. Hiveg medium is formulated as described by Palumbo et al and is a slight modification of SA Agar. It is also used for the quantitative detection of Aeromonas hydrophila , A. sobria and A. caviae in fresh foods of animal origin and fresh vegetable. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
