Blocking Buffer (1% BSA in 1X TBS)

Blocking Buffer (1% BSA in 1XTBS) is made of high-quality BSA that is useful for saturating excess protein-binding sites on membranes and microplates in immunoassays. A good blocking buffer for a specific experiment will bind to all potential sites of nonspecific interaction, eliminating background without altering or obscuring the epitope for antibody binding. In case of immunoblotting/staining of phosphorylated protein TBS is recommended instead of PBS, because phosphate in PBS may interfere with immunoreaction between phospho protein and phospho specific Antibodies. Blocking Buffer (1% BSA in 1X TBS) provides a stabilized Tris environment for the prevention of non specific interaction between antibodies and the solid phase. It facilitates surface blocking during molecular biology research screening and specialized protein characterization.
