Blocking Buffer (10% BSA in 1XPBS)

Blocking buffer (10% BSA in 1X PBS) is made of high-quality BSA that is useful for saturating excess protein-binding sites on membranes and microplates in immunoassays. The Blocking Buffer (10%) should be diluted up to 1% working concentration prior to use with 1X phosphate-buffered saline. A good blocking buffer for a specific experiment will bind to all potential sites of nonspecific interaction, eliminating background without altering or obscuring the epitope for antibody binding. Blocking Buffer (10% BSA in 1XPBS) uses a high concentration of bovine serum albumin to saturate vacant binding sites on membrane or plate surfaces.
