Tris is the common name of tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane. It is a primary amine and is effective as a buffer in the pH range between 7.0 and 9.2. Tris does not precipitate calcium salts and maintains solubility of manganese salts. This buffer is supplied as 1M. 1M Tris-Cl, pH 7.0 is a concentrated buffering solution optimized for maintaining physiological pH during the handling of delicate macromolecules.
