Recommended for enrichment of Vibrio species.

Alkaline HiCynth™ Peptone Water is recommeded as an enrichment broth for Vibrio species. Clinical materials containing small numbers of Vibrio are inoculated into this medium prior to plating onto a selective medium. The relatively high pH of the medium around 8.4 favours the growth of Vibrio species. This medium is prepared by completely replacing animal based peptones with chemically defined peptones to avoid risks associated with animal peptones.
