Mlu I

Restriction enzymes are essential tools in molecular biology because each recognizes a unique DNA sequence and precisely cuts the double-stranded DNA molecule into smaller, distinct fragments. Mlu I is a Restriction Endonuclease purified from an Escherichia coli strain that carries the Mlu I gene. The restriction enzyme Mlu I recognizes the DNA sequence G^AATTC and optimally cleaves the DNA at 37°C when used with 10X Assay Buffer. Mlu I is an endonuclease sensitive to methylation that targets a six base pair palindromic sequence. This Restriction Enzyme utilizes ACGCGT Recognition Sequence cleavage for DNA Digestion and serves as a tool for CpG Island Genomic Mapping in vertebrate genomes.
