Hi-PCR® Extended-spectrum ?-lactamases (ESBLs) Gene Quantification Probe PCR Kit is designed for sensitive and specific detection with quantification of single and co-present ESBL encoding genes SHV, CTX-M, TEM and OXA-10/11 with Internal Control in a single tube.
In Gram-negative bacteria, the production of extended spectrum ?-lactamases (ESBLs) represents the most important factor to resistance against ?-lactam antibiotics. These ESBLs have the ability to hydrolyze various antibiotics, including extended-spectrum cephalosporins of the 3rd and 4th generation and monobactams. Currently, the predominant ESBL gene families encountered are CTX-M, TEM, SHV and OXA-10/11. PCR is an alternative method that allows for sensitive and specific detection of these ESBL genes from clinical samples / cultured isolates.
