Directions
Suspend 30 grams in 1000 ml distilled water containing 38 ml glycerol. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Dispense as desired and sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes.
Principle and Interpretation
YEPG Growth Medium is recommended for the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Respiratory deficient mutants will not grow on YEPG. Glycerol is a non-fermentable carbon source.
Quality Control
Appearance of Powder: Cream to yellow coloured, homogeneous, free flowing powder.
Colour and Clarity: Light yellow coloured, clear solution without any precipitate.
Reaction: Reaction of 3.0% w/v aqueous solution containing 3.8% v/v glycerol is pH 6.5 ± 0.2 at 25°C.
Cultural Response
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 25-30°C for 18 - 48 hours.
