Directions
Suspend 20 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat if necessary to dissolve the medium completely. Dispense as desired. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes.
Principle and Interpretation
This medium is prepared by using HiVeg peptone and HiVeg infusion which is BSE/TSE risks free. This medium is the modification of Staphylococcus Aureus Enrichment Broth which is a selective medium used in the membrane filter technique for isolating pathogenic Staphylococci e.g. Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus is coagulase positive and is well documented as a human opportunistic pathogen and has been major cause of morbidity and mortality(1). Staphylococcus Aureus Enrichment HiVeg Broth, like the conventional medium is also used for disinfectant testing.
The medium contains ingredients like HiVeg infusion and HiVeg peptone, which provide necessary nutrients to the growth of Staphylococcus aureus when used as test organism in disinfectant testing. Sodium chloride in the medium heps to maintain osmotic equilibrium.

Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37°C for 18 - 24 hours.
