HiMedia's Hi‐PCR® Extended‐ spectrum β‐lactamases (ESBLs) Gene Quantification Probe PCR Kit is designed to detect the specific regions of the genes encoding the ESBLs wherein SHV, CTX‐M and OXA‐10/11 is detected in FAM, HEX and Cy5 channels respectively with Internal Control in Cy5.5 channel in a single tube reaction. The kit allows sensitive and specific detection with quantification of single and co‐present ESBL encoding genes in a single tube reaction.
In Gram-negative bacteria, the production of extended spectrum ?-lactamases (ESBLs) represents the most important factor to resistance against ?-lactam antibiotics. These ESBLs have the ability to hydrolyze various antibiotics, including extended-spectrum cephalosporins of the 3rd and 4th generation and monobactams. Currently, the predominant ESBL gene families encountered are CTX-M, TEM, SHV and OXA-10/11. PCR is an alternative method that allows for sensitive and specific detection of these ESBL genes from clinical samples / cultured isolates. Hi-PCR® Extended-spectrum ?-lactamases (ESBLs) Gene Quantification Probe PCR Kit is designed for sensitive and specific detection with quantification of single and co-present ESBL encoding genes SHV, CTX-M, TEM and OXA-10/11 with Internal Control in a single tube.
