This medium is recommended for isolation and differentiation between various species of Bacillus from a mixed cultures. The chromogenic mixture present in the medium is cleaved by the enzyme beta glucosidase. Polymixin sulphate and Bacitracin inhibits the growth of other Bacillus and contaminating microflora.
