Tween 20 is a non-ionic detergent widely used in the biochemical applications. It serves as an emulsifying agent and is widely used for the preparation of stable oil-in-water emulsions, particularly in pharmaceutical applications. To remove the peripheral proteins, tween-20 has been initially used in the pre-extraction of membranes. It also serves as a blocking agent on nitrocellulose.
