4-(Dimethylamino)cinnamaldehyde, is an histological dye used to detect indole production in cells. It is used for the rapid identification of bacteria containing tryptophanase enzyme systems.
4-(Dimethylamino)cinnamaldehyde is Reagent for assay of indole product of apotryptophanase and tryptophanase. DMAC produces colored adducts with flavanols for subsequent HPLC.
