(-)-Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant polyphenol flavonoid exerts anti-tumor properties by inhibiting telomerase and DNA methyltransferase activity. EGCG inhibits the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), MMP-9 and reduces the invasiveness.
