Used for differentiation of Trichophyton species.

Trichophyton HiVeg™ Agar-5 is recommended for differentiation of Trichophyton species. The various additives added help to determine the specific vitamin and amino acid requirements of the isolates. Trichophyton Agar-5 is used for the cultivation of Trichophyton equinum which can be identified purely on the basis of nutritional requirements. T. equinum requires nicotinic acid for growth and it is included in the medium. This medium is prepared by replacing animal peptones with vegetable defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risk.
