This medium is recommended for selection, isolation and identification of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus from clinical specimens. The chromogenic mixture incorporated in the medium is specifically cleaved by Staphylococcus aureus to give bluish green coloured colonies. The medium is made selective for MRSA by the addition of Methicillin and Cefoxitin.
