Baird Parker HiCynth™ Agar Base is a modification of Baird Parker Agar Base for isolation and enumeration of Staphylococci in food and other material since it allows a good differentiation of coagulase positive strains. It has been adopted by AOAC International and is recommended in the USP for use in the performance of Microbial Limit Tests. The ISO committee has also recommended this medium for the isolation and enumeration of Staphylococci. This medium is prepared by completely replacing animal based peptones with chemically defined peptones to avoid BSE/TSE/GMO risks associated with animal peptones.
