Simulated Grape Juice Medium is used for ascospore production by Byssochlamy’s and heat resistant moulds. Heat resistant moulds pose great nuisance through their heat resistance and abundance both leading to spoilage of food products. Byssochlamys is one such mould with survival capacity despite repeated freeze thawing. Determination of heat resistance can help alleviate the spoilage problems. Simulated Grape Juice Medium is recommended by APHA for ascospore production by Byssochlamys.
