Modified WL Nutrient Medium is used for the examination of materials encountered in brewing and for industrial fermentations containing mixed flora of yeast and bacteria. Bakers yeast counts can be carried out in this medium at a pH 5.5. By adjusting the pH to 6.5, the medium can be used for obtaining counts of Baker's and distillers yeast. If desired Durham's tubes can be added to this medium to study fermentation reactions.
