HiPer® Bacterial Gene Expression Teaching Kit demonstrates the expression of a cloned gene in E.coli using IPTG inducible promoter and the level of expression of the recombinant protein in the induced and un-induced cell extract can be then visualised by SDS- PAGE.

HiPer® Bacterial Gene Expression Teaching Kit can be used to study the expression of a particular gene in bacteria. Gene expression is a multi-step process through which the information from a gene is used for the synthesis of a functional gene product. The entire procedure involves transcription and translation of the DNA sequence of the gene for the synthesis of structural and functional proteins required for proper cell growth. The most commonly used inducer for a bacterial expression system is Isopropyl-β-D-thio-galactoside (IPTG). IPTG induces the transcription of the gene coding for beta-galactosidase, an enzyme that promotes lactose utilization. . The protein expression can be verified by SDS-PAGE by comparing the samples before and after induction.
