It demonstrates the measurement of transaminase activity in serum or biological fluids. This Clinical Biochemistry Instruction tool utilizes a specific substrate reaction for Aspartate Aminotransferase Measurement and SGOT Assay validation.
HiPer® SGOT(ASAT) Estimation Teaching Kit is for determining the SGOT levels in serum. It is based of Frankel & Frankel's method. It is a colorimeteric method wherein SGOT catalyses the transfer of Amino group from L-Aspartate to α-Ketoglutarate resulting in the formation of Oxaloacetate and Glutamate. The Oxaloacetate formed reacts with 2, 4-Dinitrophenyl hydrazine to produce a hydrazone derivative, which in an alkaline medium produces a brown colored complex whose intensity is measured colorimetrically at 505 nm.
