This HiDip slide is recommended for screening of Enterobacteriaceae & faecal Streptococci with inactivation of disinfectants. VRBGA w/Neutralizers : This medium is recommended for selective isolation, detection and enumeration of coli-aerogenes bacteria in water, milk other dairy food products and clinical . It is based on lactose fermentation with neutral red as the indicator. Bile salts and crystal violet inhibits gram positive bacteria. It can be used for selective isolation of Enterobacteriaceae. Lecithin , sodium thiosulphate, tween 80 and histidine are the neutralizers. Bile Esculin Agar w/Neutralizers : This medium is recommended for differential isolation and presumptive identification of group D Streptococci in food and pharmaceutical products. Enterococci and Group D Streptococci exhibit esculin hydrolysis. Esculin is hydrolysed to esculetin and dextrose, which reacts with ferric citrate producing brownish black precipitate. Leuconostoc, Pediococcus, Lactococcus species causing human infections give a positive bile esculin test. It can be supplemented with 50ml/L horse serum. Selective due to presence of bile.
