DOBA Growth Medium with 2% galactose is used for the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This media contains Yeast nitrogen base consisting of all the essential vitamins and inorganic salts which are required for the propagation of yeast cells but does not contain the amino acids.. It also contains galactose serving as the carbon source for the cells. Galactose allows expression of GAL genes which is otherwise repressed in presence of glucose.
