Brucellosis is a zoonotic infection caused by bacteria in the genus Brucella. General symptoms include- Fever, body-wide aches and pains, poor appetite and weight loss. Aborted fetuses, placental membranes or fluids, and other vaginal discharges present after an infected animal has aborted or calved are all highly contaminated with infectious Brucella organisms. The disease may also be spread when wild animals or animals from an affected herd mingle with brucellosis-free herds. The Hi-PCR® Brucella Probe PCR Kit is designed to detect highly conserved region in Brucella strains. Real-time PCR based method provides rapid, accurate, sensitive and specific detection of Brucella strains.
