EZY MIC™ Strips developed by HiMedia, is a quantitative technique for determining the antimicrobial susceptibility of a wide range of aerobic, anaerobic and fastidious organisms. The system comprises predefined antibiotic gradient coated on a paper strip which is used to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), in µg/ml, of different antimicrobial agents against a variety of microorganisms when tested on appropriate agar media under specific incubation conditions. Ezy MIC™ Strip can be used to --Determine the MIC of fastidious, slow-growing or nutritionally deficient micro-organisms, or for a specific type of patient or infection. --To Confirm/detect a specific resistant phenotype e.g. ESBL, MBL, VISA/hVISA. --To Detect low levels of resistance. -- It provides high medical value to critical care cases to, refine or guide treatment decisions. Also helps in determining the choice and dosage of antimicrobials in patients with sterile site infections (e.g. endocarditic), severe nosocomial infections, chronic infections (e.g. cystic fibrosis) and immunosuppressed patients and --To Promote antibiotic stewardship. |
